Latest shipment of Camaro parts: 11/21/2013

Received two shipments of Camaro parts over the last two days.  Yesterday I received my new v-belts and racing plugs from Summit Racing. Today my shipment from Eastwood arrived with my sound deadener.  I knew the sound deadener was hefty, but was a bit surprised that the 2 orders of approximately 75 sq/ft weighed in at 55 lbs!  I'm more concerned about quieting the car down inside to a "kid friendly" level and lowering the heat from the engine and trans than I am about the added weight, so its a much needed 55 lbs extra. I'm still struggling to find time to get in the garage, but with my winter furlough just a few weeks away, I hope to get back at it soon.

True to it's roots, this modern day heavy weight represents the Z/28 badge well.

Where are they now: Jean Claude Van Damme

Where is he?  Doing splits between two semi rigs it seems.

One Bad 3rd Gen Camaro

This is EXACTLY the heart and soul I hope to transplant into my 89 Formula one day.  I love the sound of my BBC singing at 7,200 rpm's, but a SBC knocking on 8,000 rpm's is also a nice little tune.

Roadkill: Episode 22

Not one of their more entertaining episodes. In fact, dare I say, this one kind of bored me.

6th Generation Mustang to be unveiled December 5, 2013

Ford has announced December 5, 2013 as the day they will take the wraps off of the 6th generation Mustang. It will get at least one EcoBoost engine, which I expected, and is said to have a Ford Fusion-like grill. For the sake of my fellow Mustang enthusiast, I hope to hell it's not "Fusion-like." One can't help but wonder, if a 400+ hp EcoBoost engine is offered, will it be the beginning of the end for V8's in Mustangs? Could turbo 6's once again capture the magic the Buick GN's, GMC Typhoons, and GMC Syclones captured during the 80's and 90's? Perhaps the bigger question, will GM and Chrysler follow Ford in dropping off 2 cylinders?

Turbo Minivan doing a Burnout

I'm by no means a fan of minivans, and never plan on owning one.  I am however, willing to retract my blanket statement of "minivans aren't cool."  This minivan is actually cool...but I still wouldn't be caught driving it.  LOL

"The Z/28 is expected to be pricier than the ZL1"

While I can appreciate what they've done, building a much more track oriented car, I think I'd still pick the ZL1.  In fact, even though it's 300 lbs lighter than the ZL1, a lot of that heft is likely the supercharger and related items.  I'm guessing it's only about 200 lbs lighter than the SS. At a lightened 3,800 lbs, it still seems hefty to me.  I still feel I'd have to pick the SS 1LE, but as much as I'd love one, I just can't see paying the $40k+ to own one.  As cool as they are, I would think I'd much rather have a $20-$30K classic car...or get the wife that 1964 Dodge Polara she'd love to have.

Drive the Wheels Off Bottle Opener

Theses are pretty sweet! Made from 12 gauge stainless steel, bottle openers don't get much cooler than this!

Here is a very cool drag racing page that offers a directory listing all of the dragstrips in the U.S. and Canada.

The C7 Corvette AeroWagon

The AeroWagon is created by removing the rear hatch from the C7 Corvette and replacing it with the wagon-style panel created by Callaway Carbon company. It will be available in C7 body colors. (Callaway Cars Inc.)

I love the new Vette. I also dig wagons, and the Cadillac CTS-V wagon has ranged at the top of my list when it comes to cool/modern wagons.  The combination of a Vette and a wagon however leaves me scratching my head, unsure to love it or hate it.  It would be hard to argue that they didn't get the size and proportions spot on.  This thing appears to be a production quality, and if one didn't know any better, they'd never guess it's an aftermarket modification by Callaway. That being said, is a car really a "wagon" if it only seats 2 people?  Part of the appeal of a wagon for me was the ability to pack it full of people and take a road trip, a king of the hill family truckster. In that regard, the AeroWagon falls short.
